by a street sign.
The 16-year-old looking out of a bus window as it drove down a
narrow street in Durban, South Africa, when the tragedy
happened, reports the BBC.
The boy, who has not been named, was among a group of 106
students visiting from Lesotho, a landlocked country surrounded
by South Africa.
A security guard who witnessed the tragedy told the Durban
Mercury that "everyone was crying" after the incident.
He said the bus first hit a sign and the boy looked out to see
what was happening when he was struck by a second pole.
"I wanted to help, but I couldn't. He was still breathing -
blood still gushing - when I got to him. But there was
absolutely nothing I could do for him," said the security guard.
